La Plaza de Cultura y Artes, a Mexican-American cultural center in downtown Los Angeles, opened to the public April 16, 2011. Miguel Angel Corzo and Ken Luftig Viste, who curated the inaugural exhibit, "LA Starts Here!" talked about the founding of Los Angeles and the history of Mexicans in Southern California.
